Napier Central School Attendance Management Plan

Regular attendance is essential for learning and wellbeing. We expect students to attend school every day the school is open unless they are unwell or have a justified reason for absence. Our goal is for all students to attend at least 90% of the school term.

If your child is unable to attend school, please notify the school office as soon as possible on the day of the absence.

Teachers record attendance each day and the school follows up any unexplained absences to ensure students are safe and accounted for. Families may receive a text, email, or phone call if an absence has not been explained.

If a pattern of absence develops, the school will work with families to understand the situation and provide support. In cases where attendance remains a concern, the school may involve the Ministry of Education Attendance Service for additional assistance.

We value working closely with our families to support students to attend regularly and make the most of their learning opportunities. For more information please refer to our Attendance Management Plan.

Important Safety Notice – From Napier city council

Nelson Quay Wharf and Meeanee Quay Piers One and Two

We are writing to ask for your support in sharing an important public safety message with your students and their whānau regarding the Inner Harbour area, specifically   Nelson Quay Wharf and Meeanee Quay Piers One and Two.

We are asking schools in the wider Napier area to please share this safety message with your students and their whānau. We would greatly appreciate your support   in reinforcing the following

 key points:

•  Nelson Quay Wharf is fully closed and must not be accessed by land or sea under any

 circumstances.

•  Piers One and Two at Meeanee Quay have temporary access restrictions in place, and no land-based access is permitted while remediation works are underway.

•  Wharf jumping in both areas is strictly prohibited and extremely dangerous.

•  All signage around the area must be respected and adhered to.

We ask that rangatahi and their whānau do their part by staying away from these areas until Council can make them safe again. The safety of our community is, and always   will be, our absolute priority.

 More information.
